Danielle & Sachrijara
Victoria Tambunting is the Manila based designer behind Danielle & Sachrijara Handwoven Fabrics. In her studies to become an interior designer, her curiosity for indigenous fibers deepened and provided the foundation for what grew into the Danielle & Sachrijara collection. Her line reflects Victoria’s own personal style, a marriage between elegance and a bohemian spirit. Victoria's personal vision was to introduce beautifully hand crafted pieces that were tribal yet contemporary as well as ecologically friendly.
Danielle & Sachrijara handcrafted textiles are made from carefully handwoven abaca fibers using centuries-old technique and are colored with natural dyes derived from roots, bark, leaves and fruit of various Philippine flora. Weaving the textiles by hand takes from 45-60 days depending on the intricacies of the pattern. Only then it is gently rubbed and ironed out by hand using primitive tools to achieve its signature gloss. The results are unique and enduring textiles that only these tribeswomen can produce.
Because of her passionate efforts, many of the tribeswomen have returned to their village homes, to weave once again through a livelihood of dignity. Victoria's insight are helping to preserve an indigenous culture and providing a venue for their specialized craft to flourish. The Danielle & Sachrijara collection is a reflection of Victoria’s urban style, gently woven by truly gifted artisans.
