Jed Johnson Home Textiles
The Jan 2010 issue of Architectural Digest named Jed Johnson one of the top 20 designers of all time. Through his penchant for hard work, his attention to detail and a great historical knowledge, Johnson was a powerful tastemaker. Jed was credited with the revival of interest in the European Arts and Crafts as well as the American Aesthetic movement that had long been forgotten.
His projects were illustrious: he designed a houses on East 65th Street and in Montauk for Andy Warhol, as well as an apartment at the Hotel Pierre for Yves Saint Laurent. In the early 90s, Johnson co-created an unusual collection of fabrics that became Chelsea Textiles. Rizolli published "Jed Johnson..."
His legacy is carried on in Jed Johnson Home, which offers a collection of luxury textiles known for its enduring quality and that traverse the cusp between contemporary and classic in a unique and interesting way. From the finely woven silks and textures, to the hand-printed and embroidered linen-cotton blends, the emphasis is always on design integrity expressed by the skilled hands of respected artists and craftsmen. His timeless designs transcend stylistic categorization and evoke the mood of restrained opulence.
